Heat Wave

We've been having a bit of a heat wave in Ann Arbor the past few days. It was 102 degrees on Thursday and has continued to be in the 90s the past few days.

Meghan's apartment doesn't have working AC so she's been staying with us the last few days. It's AWESOME! All of a sudden we outnumber Nathan 3 to 1.  She's great with him, he adores her, and we've totally taken advantage of her willingness to change diapers.

Here are a few photos that we've taken over the past few months, but I haven't had the chance to post them before this.

Nathan has also been able to hang out with his fur cousins, April and Polly. Here's Polly saying hi.

Audrey!

Our friends Sarah and Adam had their second daughter, Audrey, about two weeks after we had Nathan. Sarah and I have been trying to meet up at least once a week for the past month or so. It's great for both of us since both of our houses are pretty well stocked with everything you'll need for taking care of a baby.

Adam works in Ann Arbor and was able to bring us Zingerman's sandwiches for lunch today and meet Nathan. Audrey was adorable as always, and I was able to catch her first real grins at her dad! Isn't that face just precious?

Edit: I also wanted to add these pictures from when Nathan was 4 weeks old and Audrey was 2 weeks old. We are planning for them to be very close friends.

Francie!

My college roommate, Francie, came to visit this past weekend and it was awesome.  Francie works with kids for a living and Nathan adored her. I don't know why we didn't get more pictures with her!

2 months old

Today we went in for Nathan's 2 month checkup as he is 2 months old exactly! Time has taken on a very strange pace, it feels both like he's older than that and was also just born. We got an update on his measurements:

Weight: 10 lb. 12 oz. (50th percentile)
Height: 22 1/2 inches   (50th percentile)
Head circumference: 15 1/4 inches (50th percentile)

This consistency is sure not to last long.

Unfortunately, it also means he was due for his first round of shots, my poor boy. She was super fast with them and he recovered amazingly quickly so we were spared too much anguish. So far the most obvious side effect has been excellent sleeping. The child has just been a doll. How lucky are we?

Phone favorites from this weekend

I love weekends when Brian is home. It's so nice to have another set of hands and be able to share Nathan's darling and not so darling moments.

Newborn photos

When Nathan was 4 weeks old we had newborn photos taken. Thankfully, he was still tiny!  Now we have to decide which ones to order which is going to be so hard. Brian is VERY upset that we don't have the rights to the digital images, "We don't just get the files? What is this, 1990?"

A record!

This little fella slept 8 hours straight last night. We didn't see it coming, but it was a wonderful anniversary present to his parents.

Meghan is coming over tonight to babysit for him while Brian and I go out for dinner to celebrate. What a great sister-in-law!

Cooing

This is what our awake moments often look like (you know, when he's not crying).

Grandfather's Day

We spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon/evening celebrating Grandfather's day at my parent's house. Brian and I arrived, put Nathan down to finish his nap, and then promptly fell asleep for two hours ourselves. So much for being a help!

The weather today was absolutely gorgeous, and we had a delicious dinner in the grape arbor. We enjoyed Dad's guilty pleasure of fried chicken which we all agreed was a treat! Nathan was beautifully behaved (for the most part) and napped in the yard through dinner. I think he liked the breeze.

Dad is running the Ann Arbor Marathon tomorrow. Good luck and happy Father's Day, Dad!

Liz has more (and better) pictures here.

Flying Solo

Around the time Nathan was about 2 weeks old Brian told me he would have to go on a work trip to California in June. I don't know if I was just so sleep deprived that it didn't really sink in or what, but we find ourselves in June now, and Brian is indeed in the Sunshine State. We can't wait to have him back home!

Of course Nathan decided now was the time to really start smiling in earnest. He even smiled for the camera. Be still, my beating heart.
