Ready for his first day with Cathy |
Enter Cathy. She has decades of experience caring for children and a really sweet way with Nathan. She's also available for evenings so Brian and I will have a convenient babysitter should we want to have a date night. Eva is the adorable 1.5 year old little girl who will be Nathan's pseudo big sister.
We are doing the first week at our house which makes me feel so lucky. Being able to see him throughout the day is definitely making it a little easier to ease back into working. We moved my office down into the basement so they will have the run of the first two floors. It works pretty well in terms of sound proofing as I can't hear him at all if they are on the second floor. As a final plus, the other family we're working with lives about 5 minutes away so drop off and pick up couldn't be any more convenient (in theory - ask me about this next week).
I also have to say that I have wonderfully supportive co-workers who have been checking in with me and aren't expecting too much of me right off the bat. It's was a good thing too, since it took the first half of yesterday just to get my account reactivated.
I won't lie. There have been tears on my end and a host of conflicting feelings about going back to work. I believe it is the best thing for myself and our family right now and am grateful he can have such wonderful care while we are working, but it is still gut wrenching to leave him with someone else for the day.
While I may have a hard time with the change the rest of the house is having a fantastic time together.
