My dear, wonderful, amazing friend Sara and her equally amazing husband Eyal were here for a few days - we are so sad they are gone! They had come to the states from Israel to visit her parents in Seattle and made a couple day stop in Michigan to see us and meet the kids. The last time we got to see them was fall of 2011 when we took a quick trip to Israel to see them get married. We couldn't have been more grateful that they came to visit us for a few days. Nathan took a particular shine to Eyal who was incredibly indulgent with him and put in HOURS of toddler play time. He warmed up to Sara by the end, but let's be honest, she's a woman, which automatically puts her in the slightly suspicious category for him. This meant that Sara had her hands free to do lots of Vivian holding.
We didn't show them a very exciting time, but I had a great time with them! We went out to lunch a few days, went on a double date thanks to Cathy being willing to babysit, and visited the peony garden (fun fact: it is the largest collecting of heirloom and vintage peonies in North America). Other than that we had a lot of down time catching up and generally basking in getting to be in the same time zone together.
They are expecting their first little one (a boy!) in mid-September, and I can't wait to meet him! They'll be the best parents and the only sad thing is that our kids won't grow up together. Maybe the first time we go abroad as a family it will be Israel!
