Not much to report

I don't have much to report from this weekend. It was lovely. I even had a 3 day weekend because of my sweet government consulting gig. Mom came over and helped me redo our bookshelves. That's how great she is. In return, I'm giving her a blog post.

Nathan is starting to enjoy the bouncer a bit more, I think the more he can get his feet on the ground the more he'll like it.

This grass has been a great addition to our baby gear collection. We were using a towel as a drying rack for all of the bottles and pumping gear that I use every day. The grass is not only great at organizing it all, it's also a lot more attractive. Plus, Sophie looks so at home when she's drying.

Mom plays a "game" where Nathan grabs onto her hair and squeals. He does the same with Brian, and then he acts surprised when he pulls and it hurts. The whole thing is adorable.

The sweater that Aunt Mary knit for Nathan finally fits him. It's adorable! I absolutely love the frog buttons. Just in time for Fall.

5 month stuff

I feel like I'm living a lie. The last time I talked about sleep, I said he'd go 8-10 hours in the first stretch, usually waking between 4 and 6 in the morning. Now, I wasn't lying, at the time. I was absolutely telling the truth. Then a little thing called daycare and a cold happened. Ever since, our sleep situation hasn't been quite as ideal. Don't get me wrong, he's still really good overall, but not quite as good as before. Now, he'll get up anywhere between 2 and 6. Go figure. Usually it's just the once, but we don't always get that good first stretch like we used to.

I think we initially got off course for a few reasons. First, because we were struggling to get him enough milk during the day with bottles he was making up for it at night. Then the cold hit, and there is nothing sadder than a baby who can't breathe. I wouldn't say that we've reverse cycled, but he's definitely eating a fair amount during that night feeding so I can't bring myself to try to cut that feeding out cold turkey. I'm hoping we'll get there naturally just trying to get him to eat more during the day. Once in the night really isn't that bad, and he always goes right back to sleep without a peep.

On another note, the weather has been chilly in the morning these days, which means more hats for Nathan! He doesn't seem to mind them yet which is great.

I periodically like to put on parts of his Halloween costume. Because I can.

On another note, I bought a few cloth diapers on super sale before Nathan was born thinking I may try it out. Until now i've thought they just looked way too huge for him, but this week I've been doing research on the world of cloth diapering. I highly doubt that we'll transition fully to cloth, but I do think that it may become a part of our routine. Right now, the way I see it, if we use even one cloth diaper a day, it's more than we've been doing before. The pros of cloth are fewer blowouts, diaper rash, decreased costs over time, reusability for other babies, (no, we're not having a second any time soon) and obviously they are better for the environment.

I'm hesitant to even talk about this much since we are very much in the early days, and I could totally give up on it next week. I doubt that Cathy will want to do much cloth diapering, but we'll see.

I can say that patting his behind when he's wearing one is just delightful. Plus, aesthetically they are just a lot more attractive.

I mean, wouldn't you say that this is a much cuter tush than a disposable?

5 Months Old

Our little man is 5 months old. It's so hard to believe, but it's true. I took some pictures this morning to document the first wearing of the sweater I knit for him. Have I mentioned that I love this weather?

Still no rolling over. Maybe this weekend.

A couple from the last few days. There's just nothing like a naked or sleeping baby. NOTHING. Makes the rest of the day kind of dissolve. I mean, look at those buns! The boy just loves being naked.

Here's what he was doing tonight. He's so ridiculously close.

Bundle up!

I'm going to have to start knitting some hats for this cold weather!

Gimme a smile

Some of Brian's bonding chipped off his tooth so Dad and Liz came to the rescue on Saturday. It turned out that he'd also had a temporary crown in for the past 6 months so they replaced it with the permanent one too. Lucky boy. We can't thank Liz and Dad enough for fixing Brian's smile.

While they were at the office, Nathan and I were hanging out with Jessie and Mom. I think it's fair to say that I won out.

21 weeks

An update for Kylleen. I skipped a few because it's been getting pretty long and so is he!

In other updates, he's started passing toys back and forth between his hands. I took a video of it, but even I found it pretty boring to watch.
